Where We’re Located
Our club is located in Usk, a small market town in Monmouthshire, Wales, which sits on the banks of the River Usk, about midway between Caerleon and Raglan.
Usk is a compact, picturesque market town and blends it’s medieval charm, with gentle riverside tranquillity. Its narrow streets, historic buildings and the remnants of a Norman castle, sit alongside a variety of independent shops, cosy cafés and traditional pubs.
Surrounded by rolling farmland and apple-scented orchards, Usk is celebrated for its colourful floral displays, strong community spirit and a full calendar of regular local events, in 2026 being voted by the Sunday Times, as the best place to live in Wales. Easy access to the Wye Valley and nearby Monmouth also make it a peaceful and convenient base for exploring the best of South Wales.
Our club is well supported in the town and began it’s life in 1997, first meeting in the Conservative Club in Usk, now re-invented as the Grange. As member numbers grew in the early years, more space was needed and the club moved in 2005, to the Memorial Hall in Usk, the club’s current location.
It has a long history, stretching back to Roman times and throughout the Middle Ages grew as a market town, around which a medieval borough developed, trading in agricultural produce and goods from the surrounding countryside.
Industrialisation affected Usk less than larger towns, so it retained much of its rural character, with modern Usk being known for its well-preserved historic core, Georgian architecture, the castle ruins, and its riverside setting.
